PoolTechy is your pool service business in your pocket. We help contractors manage every aspect of their pool cleaning and service operation.
Every contractor gets a public profile page at profile.pooltechy.com. Homeowners search by ZIP code, see the contractors serving their area, and can request service from your page. We do not sell you leads and we do not charge for the profile — it comes with your account.
Yes. Your profile page is meant to be found — it is public and indexed by search engines at no additional cost, so a homeowner searching for pool service in your area can land on it directly. What you service and what you charge stays yours to set.
No. We do not rank contractors by price. Homeowners searching your ZIP code see the contractors serving that area — we have no incentive to push whoever charges least, because our subscription is the same flat price for every contractor.
Yes. You can create private offers that only you can see and add to established customers. You can set up a private offer by adding a new customer or when a customer first requests a quote from you. When that happens, the customer moves to your roster even if they were previously on another contractor’s roster.
Yes, but it’s not something we actively promote once a customer already has service. Customers would need to go looking for a new provider. We focus on helping you keep customers, not encouraging them to leave.
Yes — PoolTechy Pro is $49.99 per month, and your first two months are free when you subscribe. There is also a free Starter plan that stays free forever. Neither plan charges per technician or per pool.
No. Pro is one flat $49.99 a month whether you run 5 pools or 500, with one technician or ten. There are no seats to buy and no per-pool charge, so growing your route does not grow your PoolTechy bill.
No. On a Direct Pay pool you bill the customer yourself and record the cash or cheque against the invoice — they still get their service report. Auto Pay pools are the ones where the customer pays through PoolTechy on a schedule.
Yes. Set those pools up as Direct Pay: you invoice the customer yourself, and mark the invoice paid when they hand you cash or a cheque. You choose per pool whether they are emailed a service report and an invoice, so a customer who does not want either simply does not get them.
No payment-processing fee, because nothing is processed — you record the payment yourself. Your monthly subscription is the same either way.
PoolTechy adds a small platform fee on top of Stripe’s merchant fee.
Yes. The price we list includes all merchant fees. If you are doing digital payments with another app, and paying separate merchant fees, you are paying too much.
No — payment processing is optional. On Direct Pay pools you invoice the customer yourself and collect however you like: cash, cheque, bank transfer, your own card reader. You record the payment against the invoice and pay PoolTechy nothing in processing.
Processing fees only apply when a customer actually pays you through PoolTechy. Your subscription is the same either way.
Starter — $0/month, free forever. Pro — $49.99/month, with your first two months free when you subscribe.
Payment processing is charged only when you get paid, and the rates below are all-in — merchant fees included:
Manual invoices — ACH: 0.89% + $1 per invoice · Card: 2.99% + $1 per invoice
Auto (28-day) invoices — ACH: 0.89% + 30¢ per visit · Card: 2.99% + 30¢ per visit
Sending an invoice is free. A fee only applies when the customer actually pays it through PoolTechy — invoice someone who pays you cash and there is no charge at all.
When an invoice is paid through PoolTechy: $1 per invoice plus 0.89% on ACH or 2.99% on card. On automatic 28-day billing it is 30¢ per visit plus the same percentage, since you are billing on a schedule rather than raising invoices one at a time. Both are all-in — merchant fees are already included.
The same $49.99 a month. The subscription does not move with your pool count or your crew size, so it gets cheaper per pool the bigger you get:
50 pools — about $1.00 per pool per month
100 pools — about 50¢ per pool per month
250 pools — about 20¢ per pool per month
500 pools — about 10¢ per pool per month
Apps that price per technician seat or per pool run the other way: every route you win raises the bill. Payment processing is separate and only applies when a customer actually pays you through PoolTechy — see the processing rates above.
Yes, on the payment-processing side. A convenience fee added to your offer is deducted from the platform portion of the processing fee, down to zero. It does not change the monthly subscription, which is the same flat price regardless.
It arrives as a lead in your app — their contact details plus the pool itself: address, type, environment, size, and any access code or instructions they gave. You can mark it contacted, quoted, declined or lost as you work it, and Active Leads is a card on your home screen so nothing sits forgotten.
Accepting the lead turns it into a customer and a pool in one step, using the details you confirm, and drops you straight on the new pool. Nothing is shared with other contractors.
Because that email is already one of your customers — the duplicate is blocked so you do not end up with two records for the same person. Someone being another contractor’s customer does not stop you adding them; what you cannot do is take over their active service request without them accepting it.
No contractor can move an active customer to themselves. Service only changes hands when the customer acts — by subscribing to a different offer — or when they accept a route transfer. Both require the customer to say yes, and the outgoing contractor can see where each one stands.
They have to end service with their current contractor first. While a pool is connected to a contractor, the owner sees that contractor on the pool — the option to look for a new one only appears once the pool is no longer attached to anyone.
After that they can search contractors serving their ZIP code and request service or a quote from whoever they choose. The one exception is a route transfer, where the outgoing contractor hands the pool over and the owner simply accepts the new offer.
Absolutely, and we don’t charge a broker fee. PoolTechy provides a Service Transfer feature so you can transfer customers to the contractor you choose. We help facilitate the customer handover, reducing risk for everyone involved.
Yes. Any user with a business can become a contractor in PoolTechy and receive service transfers.
Both the sending and receiving contractors can see which customers have approved a transfer. Customers always have the option to stay with their current contractor and not accept the new offer.
We’d rather see more contractors and paying customers using PoolTechy than charge a one-time broker fee. Our goal is to keep healthy service relationships on the platform, even when routes change hands.
Yes. Add technicians, assign them to routes, and set what each visit pays. They see the pools they are responsible for and only the customer information they need to do the work.
No — percentage commission was replaced by a fixed amount per visit. A set rate is easier for both sides to predict: your technician knows what a stop is worth before they drive to it, and your labour cost per visit does not move when a customer’s price changes.
Yes — this is how technician pay works now. You set the amount on the service offer, and it applies every time that visit is completed. For pools priced by size, you can set the pay per 100 gallons instead, so it scales with the pool the same way the price does.
Yes, and it is one of the main reasons contractors move to Pro. When a visit is completed, PoolTechy can email the homeowner their service report — readings, dosages and photos included. Invoices send themselves on their own schedule. You can turn either off per pool.
Yes, on Pro. Connect QuickBooks Online once and PoolTechy keeps it fed — customers, invoices and payments sync on their own, so month-end reconciliation is not a manual re-entry job.
Hydros is the assistant built into the app. Ask it how to set something up and it will explain, walk you to the right screen, or hand you to a human when it cannot help. It can read what is on your screen only when you turn that on for a question.
Yes. The whole app is available in Spanish, chosen per technician, so each of your crew works in the language they prefer. Reports and invoices still reach your customers in English.
